Expansion of HSE Bowel Screening Programme

Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in Ireland but, when detected early, it is highly treatable.  Screening can detect early signs of cancer before symptoms appear, helping to save lives.  April was Bowel Cancer Awareness Month - a time to focus on education, early detection and support for those affected by bowel cancer.  This year saw an important update to the HSE's free bowel screening programme, which was expanded to everyone aged 57 to 71 (widening the previous age range of 58-70).  Screening is simple, free, and done at home.  All you have to do is register for a free home test kit online at www.hse.ie/bowelscreen
